Universal Credit Advice Service

What is it?

Mind CHWF is now offering an advice service aimed around supporting residents of the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest to claim Universal Credit. Starting September 2019, the service offers advice and support from the point of claim up to and including the Work Capability Assessment.

From one-off advice to ongoing support from the team, our Welfare Rights service is here to support you with your Universal Credit Claim.

We help with:

  • Making the initial claim
  • Attending Job Centre Plus appointments
  • Filling out the UC50 health questionnaire
  • Attending health assessments
  • Managing your claim
  • Disputing incorrect decisions made by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

In addition to this, this service is also feeding into national campaigning efforts alongside several other local Minds across the country with the aim of improving the benefits system and holding the DWP and government to account.

Peer Support

Over the years 2020-2021, Mind CHWF’s Universal Credit Advice Service will be supported by peer workers with lived experience of mental ill health and the benefits system.
