Helping young people find connection after someone important has died.
Growing with Grief is a free, community-based bereavement support service for young people aged 12–25 living in Waltham Forest who have experienced the death of someone important to them. We know that grief affects every young person differently, and there is no right or wrong way to respond to the death of someone close.
Our approach is built around a simple belief: after someone important dies, connection, creativity and community can help young people find their own way forward.
Through creative workshops, shared experiences and individual support where appropriate, we create welcoming spaces where young people can build relationships, express themselves and make sense of their experiences in ways that feel safe, supportive and meaningful. We don’t expect young people to talk before they’re ready; instead, we offer opportunities for connection that allow conversations to develop naturally over time.
Growing with Grief is particularly committed to improving access to bereavement support for young people from Black, African, Caribbean and Global Majority communities, recognising that culturally responsive services and trusted community partnerships are essential.
We work alongside schools, health services, community organisations and families to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to access compassionate support following bereavement.
