‘5 to Thrive’ – based on the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ outlines five simple steps that people can make every day to help improve their wellbeing by being active, connecting, taking notice, giving and learning new things.

5 to Thrive in the community will be launched on Monday 27 March 2023 from the Hackney Health and Wellbeing van, which will be situated on the Narrow Way, Mare St, Hackney, E8 1JB, from 12-4pm (opposite Marks and Spencer Food Hall).

Health professionals will be on hand to give free advice, signpost to care providers and give information about local activities. There will also be free hot drinks and biscuits to enjoy!

The five steps are: Giving, Learning New Things, Taking Notice, Being Active and Connecting.

Giving– Research has found a link between helping others and an increase in wellbeing.

Learning New Things– Learning new things is a good way to meet new people, feel self-accomplishment and boost our self confidence, which in turn improves our mental health and wellbeing.

Taking Notice – Taking notice of our thoughts, emotions and surroundings is a great way to stay present and pay attention to our needs.

Being Active –We know that there’s a link between staying active and positive mental health and wellbeing. By making sure we are regularly moving our bodies, we can look after our mental and physical health at the same time.

Connecting –Connecting with the people around us is a great way to remind ourselves that we’re important and valued by others.
