Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest has an exciting opportunity within its IRIE Mind, African and Caribbean Project to provide a Peer Mentor programme for Young Black Men and Community based Solutions designed to promote emotional resilience and wellbeing in African and Caribbean Communities.
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for equipping Young Black Men and the wider BME community with the skills, knowledge and confidence to support their own mental wellbeing, that of their peers, and to create and implement their own community-based solutions to tackle the problem of mental ill-health amongst Young Black Men.
The project will promote a recovery model by empowering people with mental ill-health to become more self-reliant and improve their quality of life.
The key outcomes for the project are a successful Young Black Mens Peer Led and Community Based Solution Programme leading to:
