SALARY: SC5-SP22 £26,544.80

HOURS: Full Time – 37.5 Per Week

CONTRACT: Fixed Term Contract – 12 Months

REPORTING TO: Welfare Rights Team Lead


To serve as a Welfare Rights expert and adviser working to disabled adults and adults with lived experience of mental health issues. To provide welfare rights advice as well as ongoing casework. To support clients to stabilise their income and navigate the social welfare system, from the point of checking entitlement to various benefits up to and including representation of benefit appeals at tribunal. This work will be done across two services :

  • IRIE Mind, is a new mental health initiative run by and for the African-Caribbean community in Hackney
  • Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest, a mental health charity supporting members of the community, in particular those accessing NHS Primary Care.

Please note that as this role will be part of an organisation run by and for the African-Caribbean community, it is restricted to applicants of African and Caribbean heritage under the Equality Act 2010.
