Internship Opportunity for a Resourceful, Ambitious, Enterprising Graduate or gap-year student specialising in supporting Events Fundraising for the Hackney Half Marathon

Want to make a difference in 2019? Join our small Challenge Events team and help support people living with mental health problems?

You’ll be supporting our amazing challenge events participants as they embark on the Hackney Half Marathon on Sunday 19th May 2019 to raise vital funds for Mind in the City Hackney and Waltham Forest.

Based at our Head office in Hackney, E9 you will be working on an array of different tasks and developing many skills, from event stewardship, to fundraising and customer service.

Duration: Until 20th May 2019

Start date: Immediately

Hours: Full time or part-time

Overview

Strong administration and planning skills will be as you will be pivotal in supporting our Challenge Events Team with the organisation of our Hackney Half Marathon fundraising event

You will act as our first point of contact both within Mind in the City Hackney and Waltham, Forest and for our supporters.

You must be flexible, supportive and team-minded in your approach to work and will also need to demonstrate the ability to take personal responsibility, act independently, and manage your time to achieve objectives across several strands of activity.

Your responsibilities will range from overseeing donation-thanking and financial processing, to being the first point of contact for all runners and supporters. You will take ownership of multiple weekly tasks, always looking for ways of improving these processes. It’s imperative that you are a team player, regularly and proactively updating the team on your work.

You will need to liaise extensively – across Mind as well as with supporters and runners – and well-developed communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills will be central to your success.

The exemplary care of our runners and donors and a positive experience of Mind CHWF for all will be high on your agenda – keeping you focused and positive when dealing with substantial volumes of what can be repetitive and routine work. You will possess customer/supporter-facing experience and will demonstrate resilience, patience, and the willingness to go the extra mile. Fundraising experience would also add value.

What you will be doing?

  • Recruiting runners and new donors
  • Regularly keeping in touch with event participants
  • Building relationships
  • Assisting with a variety of admin tasks
  • Replying to emails and making telephone calls
  • Managing fundraising stock and materials
  • Attending the event on May 19th 2019
  • Maintaining records and computer files
