Home > Baking for wellbeing – making your sourdough starter

This is the first video in a two-part video series on making sourdough. In this video, we’ll show you how to make your own starter (also known as levain) from scratch

When your starter is ready, you’ll be able to make a sourdough loaf. We’ll walk you through the recipe for sourdough in our second video, which also includes a short warm-up exercise to get you ready for baking!

Below you will find some downloads with written instructions on making your starter and looking after it

This video has been produced by the Centre for Better Health, a partner in the City and Hackney Wellbeing Network
